SBA President Matt Givens Selects Executive Cabinet

SBAStudent Bar Association [SBA] President Matt Givens selected his Cabinet members this past month, putting together a group of students Givens’ hopes will stir more involvement in SBA business.

“I wanted more student involvement and inclusion and this is one way of getting people involved,” Givens said. “The more people are involved, the more the SBA can get business done.”

Attorney General Mike Flanagan (2L), Director of Student Affairs and Career Planning Hagen Brody (2L), Social Events Coordinator Adam Bair (2L) along with Chief of Staff Daniela Gordon (3L), headline the new Cabinet. Each brings goals and ideas that make them a good match for the SBA.“I sat down with each,” Givens said, “talked about our ideas, some of the goals we had, and tired to see if it would be a good match. So far its been working out.”

Members of the Cabinet, or “Executive Branch,” have the chance to speak up during SBA meetings, although not to vote on any SBA measures. The Cabinets primary responsibility will be to provide input to the President, as well as plan and executive functions during the semester.

Examples include facilitating the SBA Tailgate before football games, reviewing proposed SBA legislation to ensure it is passed according to the SBA Constitution, as well as improving the Clarity of the SBA bylaws.

Some duties transcend what occurs inside SBA meetings. Director of Student Affairs and Career Planning Hagen Brody facilitated next Tuesday’s Employer Appreciation Reception at the Lowe Art Museum.
